Living in a dorm room
Why is it that my dorm room seems to get messy so quickly? I feel like I am always cleaning it. No matter how much time I spend putting away clothes, throwing away garbage or vacuuming our carpet it is always messy.
When I was living at home I never cleaned my room but at college I cant stop cleaning.
When I was living at home my mom would tell me to clean my room and of course I never listened. I always knew she would eventually clean it up. Now that I am at college I take greater care of all my belongings and my room.
I understand now that if I don’t do it no one will, I need to do things for myself and not rely on other people.
My room is always the room people hang out in so that is another reason why it gets messy so fast, especially when people eat in it.
In a weird way, living in a dorm has given me greater respect for my things and other people’s things. It’s annoying when someone comes into my room and leaves all their garbage for my roommate and I to clean up so I now treat other people’s things and room with greater respect. I always had good manners and cleaned up after myself but now I find myself more conscious of how I act. As a college student I spend most of my time in my dorm room. I hang out there, do homework there, sleep there and sometimes eat in there; my room has become my little home that I want to take care of.
This blog topic somewhat relates to the essay I just wrote for this class. So much of what we learn in college comes from outside of the classroom. I learned and changed just from living in a dorm room. Every part of college helps us to grow up and learn to become an adult. Whether we know it or not we are learning and changing and becoming different people because of our experiences in college.
