TEAM WORK
I am currently working on a group project in one of my classes this semester.
When it comes to group projects there is always that one person who slacks off and lets the other person do all the work. I am usually the person who ends up doing the whole project alone because my partner doesn’t help.
I find this extremely frustrating. It is not fair that both partners get the same grade when really only one person is doing all the work.
I went to a small high school where everyone knew each other and everyone knew who was smart and got good grades. When it came time for group projects in school the slackers usually picked to partner with someone they knew they could count on for a good grade.
In college it is not really like this. You don’t know everyone in your classes or what type of student they are. This can be good and bad.
From my own experience I found working with someone I didn’t really know was somewhat challenging. I didn’t know if I could trust the work they were doing and because I didn’t know them that well I felt uncomfortable correcting their work.
Working with someone you don’t know can also be good because you wont slack off, you may feel that you need to double check their work to see it everything is correct.
After working on a couple group projects this year at college I found there are pros and cons. As I am just starting college I know I will have many more group projects through out my four years. Group projects, or things similar, will evenbloccur at my job in the future. Group projects teach us how to work well with others, communicate our ideas and collaboratively put something together, all skills that will help us in our future.
